Objectives

The project “Mindful Creations: Art as a Voice for Mental Health” aimed to challenge the romanticization of mental health struggles and educate young people on how mental health is often misrepresented, especially through art and media. It created a safe space where participants could engage in open dialogue, express themselves authentically, and critically explore how creativity, suffering, and identity are connected. The project also addressed harmful stereotypes, encouraged empathy and intercultural understanding, promoted inclusion, and helped participants discover the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ Programme.

Results

The project successfully raised awareness about the dangers of romanticizing mental health struggles, helping participants develop a deeper understanding of how stereotypes and unrealistic portrayals can harm both individuals and society. It encouraged young people to critically engage with the way mental health is represented in art and media, and to promote more authentic, respectful artistic expressions.

Through open dialogues, participants explored the complex relationship between creativity and mental health, while safe spaces created during the project allowed them to express their identities freely, boosting their confidence and self-awareness. The project also challenged harmful stereotypes, aiming to foster a more compassionate and accurate societal view of mental health issues.

An important result was the strengthening of empathy and intercultural understanding among participants from diverse backgrounds. The project promoted the values of inclusion and diversity, ensuring the active participation of young people with fewer opportunities.

Additionally, Mindful Creations increased awareness of the Erasmus+ Programme among the participants, inspiring them to seek further personal and professional development through European opportunities. The project also empowered youth workers, providing them with new tools and knowledge to better support young people in their communities.

Overall, the project contributed to building more aware, empathetic, and inclusive communities, while encouraging authentic self-expression and fostering cross-cultural dialogue through the medium of art.
