What IF?
Youth Exchange
25.05.- 03.06.2025
Elafonisos, Greece.

Objectives
The “What If?” project was designed to help young people pause and look at the role digital technology plays in their lives. The main aim was to encourage participants to question how their everyday routines, habits, and relationships are shaped by constant online connection—and to imagine life without it.
The project set out to encourage honest reflection on both the personal and social impact of technology and internet use. Participants were invited to look at the risks and limits that come with digital dependence, misinformation, and privacy concerns, and to discuss these openly together. A key goal was to support everyone in finding practical strategies for using technology in a more balanced, intentional, and meaningful way. Throughout the exchange, there was a strong focus on creating space for real dialogue about digital habits and challenges, bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds. Promoting genuine offline connection, intercultural exchange, and more mindful living was at the heart of the entire experience.

Results
Throughout the youth exchange, participants gained a new perspective on their digital habits. By stepping away from screens and engaging in group activities, workshops, and daily reflection sessions, they became more aware of both the benefits and challenges of living in a digital world.
The project helped everyone realize how much time and attention is spent online, and what’s gained by disconnecting—even temporarily. Many participants reported feeling more present, less stressed, and more open to genuine connection with those around them.
Practical skills and ideas for healthier technology use were developed, from setting boundaries with devices to recognizing misinformation and taking control over personal data. The project also inspired participants to bring these new habits and insights back to their own communities through local events, workshops, and online campaigns.
Most importantly, “What If?” showed that life offline can be just as rich—if not richer—when shared with others in an open, supportive environment. The experience encouraged everyone to stay curious, mindful, and intentional about their digital choices long after the project ended.
